Holy Cross Hospital, Kamagere is run by Society of Sisters of the Holy Cross, Central Indian Province.
It is a non-profit making Institution. The members of this religious congregation who work in this
Institution give free service. We take it a point that no patient is send away without giving the
necessary treatment because of economic reason. It is an abode of relief to the poor and the
marginalized who live in impoverished conditions.
It is a 100 bedded hospital providing comprehensive range of services, including emergency care,
in-patient, out patient and surgical services. Our facilities and services are staffed by nursing
students who gets graduated from our own nursing school. Besides, many local people are also
employed in our Hospital.
Our aim is to provide quality Health care for persons of all races, creeds, nationalities and socioeconomic background. We are committed to providing a full spectrum of diagnostic, therapeutic
and preventive services in this rural Hospital. The services are provided with compassion and
competence.

Mission
1. To continue the healing ministry of Christ in the institutions as well as at the village level.
2. We extend our service from within the Institution to village level by conducting health
camps especially camps related to TB where we give awareness to the people about the
disease and how to control the disease.
3. We give more emphasis on being in solidarity with poor who come to this hospital for
treatment

HISTORICAL MILE STONES OF HOLY CROSS CONGREGATION & HOLY CROSS HOSPITAL KAMAGERE
THE ORIGIN OF OUR CONGREGATION
I wish to start with the origin of our Holy Cross Congregation. Our congregation began in Switzerland, in the year 1844 by Fr. Theodosius Florentini and Mother Bernard Heimgartner.
The Holy Cross sisters from Switzerland, Italy, Germany and England came to India, in Kerala, in the year 1906.At the request of the Maharaja of Travancore, our sisters started their nursing services, in the Government Hospitals at Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. Later on, their services were requested, for 12 government hospitals in Kerala.
It was the Holy Cross sisters, who for the first time started Nursing Schools in Kerala. And I am proud to let you all present here know, that even now the Holy Cross sisters, render our selfless services to the poor patients, who come to the government health care facilities in Kerala.
Today about 2000 Sisters of the Holy Cross, Menzingen, live in Europe, Asia, South America and Southern Africa. We recognize and appreciate our differences in language, appearance, dress, thinking pattern and life style in carrying out the task of caring for all especially the underprivileged women and children of our society.
OUR PRESENCE IN KARNATAKA
Our deeds might seem invisible, but they leave a trail, that is imprinted in the hearts of others. Yes, it was the Bishop Emeritus of Mysore diocese, Most Rev.Dr.Thomas Antony Vazhapilly, who was instrumental in our coming to Karnataka. He convinced this to the, then, Bishop of Mysore, Most Rev.Dr.Mathias Fernandez and Holy Cross sisters were welcomed for the first time to this village, in this great land of Karnataka, on the 2nd February 1970.
The pioneer sisters started with a small dispensary -Jeevodhaya in the ground floor of an old residence, provided for them to stay. Later on our pioneer sisters established a health center here and with lot of courage started a community health program covering 50000 populations of, almost seven villages around Kamagere

If we have some power, then each one of us has the job to empower somebody else and to enliven someone’s life. This is what we do at Holy Cross Hospital, Kamagere reminding ourselves that God heals but the physician treats the sick. Our doctors& staff at Holy Cross Hospital, Kamagere give solace & comfort to hundreds of patients daily especially to the patients who are bitten by very poisonous snakes.
Heavenly Father we thank you that your eyes are upon us always, your ears are attentive to our prayers, and your face is against those who plot evil against us. Dear God very especially we want to thank for we experienced your, love, care, compassion and protection as we care for others especially during the days of ferocious corona virus pandemic. Teach us to do, not just what is good, but what is best for our patients. Guide us in the way we should serve as health care collaborators of your healing ministry. Give us purity in our intentions, and godliness in our convictions. Energize our spirits and bodies physically and
spiritually, and keep us emotionally secure. Help us to be bighearted and sincere, energetic in goodness, and courteous and kind in our manners with the sick and suffering humanity.
I thankful for the entire team of our hospital for your selfless service for our patients. May God be generous in blessing you and taking care of your every need
and the needs of your family. Yes miracles do happen in our hospital especially in the lives of thousands of snake bite cases and that too with your generosity of heart. So far no patient has died in this hospital because of snake bite
